For the first time, **the Oaxaca Congress inaugurated the Monumental Day of the Dead Altar**, “a space that symbolizes recognition of this popular tradition and honors the memory of those who remain present in every decision, struggle, and shared aspiration,” it was stated during the event.

At the center stands a carpet made of sand and sawdust depicting **Ricardo Flores Magón**, a forerunner of the Mexican Revolution from Eloxochitlán, whose portrait serves as the official image of the LXVI Constitutional Legislature.

The president of the Political Coordination Board (JUCOPO), **Deputy Benjamín Viveros**, said that through this action, gratitude is also expressed to the people of Oaxaca who have contributed to the state in various fields.

## Color, Incense, Music, and Poetry

The lobby of the Deputies Building was filled with **the aroma of copal, incense, marigold flowers, and rooster’s comb**. It was illuminated by candles and decorated with sugarcane and papel picado in purple, orange, and black — colors that represent the season and were carefully arranged on the altar.

**Singer Rosario López**, from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, delighted attendees with performances of “La Sandunga,” “La Llorona,” “La Martiniana,” “Naila,” “La Bruja,” among other traditional songs.

**Poets Haydée Ramos Cadena and Maribel Martínez Martínez** also celebrated life and memory through words, sharing verses that invited reflection on the transcendence of remembrance and the spiritual connection with those who are no longer here.
