The cultural event was organized at the initiative of **Senator Luisa Cortés**, originally from Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz. Representatives from Oaxaca’s diverse regions —including the Istmo, Papaloapan, Coast, Mixteca, Northern and Southern Sierras and the Central Valleys— participated in the event, showcasing **the mystical and colorful ways in which Oaxacans honor** this deeply meaningful celebration for Mexico. The opening ceremony included remarks by **Senator Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez**, President of the Senate’s Board of Directors, who emphasized the importance of preserving Mexico’s ancestral traditions.
